About The Service

My name is Alex Morris (also known as The Science of Hitting). Thank you for taking the time to consider the TSOH Investment Research Service.

Through this service, I provide subscribers with complete access to my investment research and all portfolio decision-making. I post conclusions from new research ideas (planned course of action and a financial model when appropriate), as well as periodic updates on current holdings. In addition, I tell subscribers before any portfolio changes, with the rationale for both sides of the trade (what I’m buying, what I’m selling, and why). Finally, I provide quarterly updates that outline each position, its weighting, and my portfolio returns.

In a nutshell, I share ALL research and portfolio actions with subscribers.

Subscribers will receive a write-up every Monday (6:30am ET) and every other Thursday (6:30am ET), as well as detailed commentary related to any portfolio changes. My promise to you is that I’ll work tirelessly to ensure that the value of the service meaningfully exceeds its cost ($49 per month or $349 per year).

To give a you sense for the companies and topics that I focus on, here’s a list of the research reports that I’ve posted since the beginning of April 2021.

Here’s what subscribers are saying about the service.

For some quick background, I’ve worked in finance as an equities analyst since 2011 (since April 2021, this Substack has been my full-time job). I am also a CFA Charterholder with a Finance degree and MBA from the University of Florida.

I spend my days searching for high-quality businesses that are misunderstood or underappreciated, providing the opportunity for better than average returns over the long run (my two largest positions, Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway, have been sizable holdings since 2011). In addition to having a long-term time horizon, I run a concentrated portfolio: currently, my five largest positions account for more than 60% of my equity allocation. To quote Charlie Munger, my preferred approach is “patience followed by pretty aggressive conduct”. I don’t make portfolio changes very often - but when I do, they are meaningful decisions.

My ideal investment would meet the following criteria: (1) operates in an industry expected to experience structural growth; (2) with attractive unit economics and high returns on incremental invested capital (ROIIC) as a result of sustainable competitive advantages; (3) run by individuals with skill, integrity, and a long-term time horizon; and (4) offered by Mr. Market at a reasonable price.

Here’s a sample of my work (part one of the April 2021 Portfolio Review).

If you’d like to preview the service to ensure it’s additive to your investment process, please contact me and I’d be happy to share some of my research (DM @TSOH_Investing on Twitter or email thescienceofhitting@gmail.com).

Thanks again for considering the TSOH Investment Research Service.
